1. Alcoholism is the repeated and excessive use of alcohol (  Merriam-Webster Medical Dictionary )

4.    When we start to attend self help meetings  we find that many older members repeatedly say that there is no cure for alcoholism.

However everyone agrees that the disease can be arrested. If we arrest the disease and never drink alcohol again we will have stopped our alcoholism and it can never return by itself. Many call this recovered ( AA Big Book) but you can call it whatever you like

5 .  Stopping alcoholism and arresting it requires almost no hard work ; just accurate information and abstinence.

Abstinence has a 100% success rate for stopping alcoholism. But we must seek help and guidance to stay stopped.
